I should have known when Melissa emailed me asking what she and Ryan should wear. I shouldn’t have been surprised when the two appeared around the corner at Federal Triangle looking perfectly, well, perfect. I should have known that the session would be glorious. And it was.
Melissa is one of those people you instantly notice because of her beauty. Just gorgeous. Then, you have one conversation with her and you realize her inner beauty actually does exceed her looks, which is a difficult feat. We share similar interests of tall, somewhat lanky white men (
), a love of laughter and a passion for working towards a worthwhile cause. Melissa listens intently and gives you her undivided attention. Ryan is witty, relaxed and the kind of guy who no one feels uncomfortable around. He stares at Melissa like a gem and it couldn’t be more obvious that they are perfect for each other.
Referred to us by Maria (I love you!), Melissa & Ryan are getting married in October, with their reception at the Newseum. They wanted a quintessential DC engagement session, so we headed downtown for some fun. It was a blast!
We started in Federal Triangle, which was the location of my very first engagement shoot over a year ago. Literally one of the first shots of the day:

Renata captured the next three awesome images…

These two had no problem warming up to our cameras. We loved it!

One of the best parts about shooting with two is different perspectives. My perspective:

And Renata’s perspective:

How gorgeous is Melissa?! Can you just picture her in a wedding dress? AHH!

And we’re not forgetting you Ryan, you looker.![]()

Work it, girl.![]()

There were just so many great locations to shoot in downtown.

Even with the Sunday crowd, we still managed to get a shot with the Lincoln Memorial.

Renata grabbed this shot on a complete whim. She’s the bomb.

What is more “DC” than the Metro? We reeeallly wanted to get some shots down there in the dark, but we didn’t know how it would work out. Melissa and Ryan were troopers and I still cannot get over this ridiculous shot (that was completely Renata’s idea):

Then, we waited 15 minutes for a train to grab the next shot. We missed it the first time, so we waited 5 more minutes for the next train. It was completely worth it.

Melissa and Ryan, you just don’t know what you’ve done for our self confidence.
We are counting the days until your (big, fat, Greek) wedding!
